1. Eligibility criteria: Have you passed Higher Secondary with 50% marks (45% for ST / SC / PH) or are you hoping to pass with 50% mark (45% for ST / SC / PH)Are you a permanent resident of North East India? Is your family income less than 4.5 lakh? If so, no matter what caste you belong to, you can complete your preferred 3 or 4 years Engineering/Professional degree course from UGC accredited reputed university without any course fee.

2. How it’s possible? Actually an NGO namely Merit Research Society (MRS) will sanction course wise interest-free education loans to meet up 3 or 4 year's course fees excluding student's own contributions. Students will have to repay the loan amount after getting the scholarship.

3. Example: Suppose the course fee for a 4-years engineering course Rs. 2,40,000. The score of a general category student is 85 percent. He has to pay Rs 10,000 only as a registration fee to do this 4-years course. Another student with the lowest score of 50 percent, he has to pay only Rs 35,000 (Rs. 10,000 as a registration fee + Rs. 25,000 as a self contributed course fee) to do these 4-years course.

4. The target for admission: We have got a target of 1000 students for North East India (Arunachal Pradesh 46, Assam 462, Manipur 97, Meghalaya 104, Mizoram 52, Nagaland 69 & Tripura 129).

5. Process of form fills up: At first candidates must fill out the “Advance seat booking form” provided at www.mrs-edu.com. There is no charge for filling up the form.

6. Candidate selection procedure: Procedure of candidate selection will be held “first come first serve basis” after fulfillment of eligibility criteria. 

7. Registration fee: Selected candidate should have to pay an amount Rs 10,000.00 as registration fee to the Bank Account of MRS (Government Registered Society). And then the required documents should have to be uploaded to the portal of MRS for admission at college/university.

8. Refund policy: If any candidate cannot be admitted for any reason, the deposited amount Rs.10,000 as registration fee would be sent back to the student’s bank account.

9. Student's self contribution: The higher the score, the lower the student’s self-contribution. The highest score, no self-contribution.

1. In case of ST, SC and PH: a) student's self contribution will be Rs 0 whose HS/Graduate/Postgraduate marks 80% and above, b) Rs10,000 for 70%-79.9%, c) Rs 15,000 for 60%-69.9%, d) Rs 20,000 for 50%-59.9% and e) Rs 25,000 for 45%-49.9%.

2. In case of others (except ST, SC and PH): a) student's own contribution will be Rs 0 whose graduate or postgraduate marks is 85% and above. b) Rs10,000 for 80%-84.9%, c) Rs 15,000 for 70%-79.9%, d) Rs 20,000 for 60%-69.9% and e) Rs 25,000 for 50%-59.9%.

9. In case of non approval of scholarship: If a candidate's scholarship is not approved, there will be no barrier to study and their 100% of loan amount will be deposited from the general fund of the NGO.

10. Online coaching classes: All of the courses are in regular mode. There are opportunities to take online coaching classes absolutely free of cost.
